| Kazimierz Bazarnik picture and signature |
This is a picture of Kazimierz Bazarnik with his naturalization record. Now I realize why I had a hard time tracing him. He didn't have any children, and he sometimes changed his name. On the 1920 Census, Matilda Malinowski was in Chicago with her mother (her parents were divorced). Her father Felix lived nearby. On the WWI draft registration papers, it stated his name was Kazimierz Paulik, name changed, so he could keep his job. He was a machinist. Kazmierz was in Detroit on the WWI draft papers and filed his naturalization paperwork in Detroit in 1919. So I believe this is Kazimierz on the 1920 Census (icon to the right):

Matilda and Kazimierz married in Gary Indiana 22 Aug 1922. I tried to find Matilda and Kazimierz together on the 1930 Census and could not find them. I cannot find anyone close to Matilda's age, born in Poland. So I wondered if maybe he lived in Detroit and sent money to her in Chicago? I think I found Kazimierz and I think Matilda may have been accidentally omitted. I found a Kazimierz on the Census, as the last entry on the page. Half the page was crossed out, with a notation in the margin that this information was being moved to another enumeration district on page 16A. So I looked at that page too. Both Census pages are attached here. After both pages, it was a new enumeration district, so Matilda was not on the next page. Both these 1930 pages and the 1920 pages do not have the surname Bazarnik. But I believe Kazimierz kept using different surnames to keep his job. (Note sure why he did that yet) The age, occupation, marital status and immigration year are correct on these Census pages for Kazimierz. On the 1930 Census, he is listed as married, on 1920 single. Both Kazimierz and Matilda received citizenship in Chicago.
Kazimierz was born in Krakow, Poland. He had blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, was 5 feet 6 inches and 126 pounds. He immigrated to the United States with his mother Anna Baranowski (married to Ignatz Baranowski, already in Chicago), and his aunt Alfreda Mazukiewicz. (Anna's sister, who later married Adam Sanetra). (Alfreda's picture, top left of this blog.) They arrived at Ellis Island 1 Feb 1914. Kazimierz left behind a brother, named Anton Baranowski in Poland. Kazimierz lived in Detroit and Chicago. Possibly also Gary, Indiana. He married there, and it is his last address listed on the Social Security Death Index. At the time of the WWII draft registration, Kazimierz citizenship, and Matilda's citizenship, they lived at 2555 W. Cortez St
